A Water Based Cremation Alternative
Homeward Bound offers alkaline hydrolysis for families seeking an alternative to conventional flame cremation. This method uses water and requires significantly less energy than traditional crematory methods.
It also produces a fraction of the carbon footprint associated with flame cremation, avoids direct combustion emissions, and allows water used in the process to be responsibly returned to the environment. Another important benefit is the potential for more of your pet’s remains to be returned to your family.
For Florissant pet owners, Homeward Bound provides several compassionate ways to say goodbye while creating a lasting reminder of a treasured companion.
FAQ
Is aquamation the same thing as water cremation?
Yes. Aquamation and water cremation are commonly used names for alkaline hydrolysis. Instead of using fire, the process relies on water, alkalinity, and controlled conditions to provide pet aftercare.
Does alkaline hydrolysis use acid?
No. Alkaline hydrolysis uses an alkaline solution, which is chemically different from an acid. Water makes up the majority of the solution used during the process.
Why do pet owners choose water based cremation?
Families may choose alkaline hydrolysis because of its gentle process and lower environmental impact compared with traditional flame cremation. It also allows more of your pet’s remains to be returned to your family.
